Rarely does a film emerge that seems to rival the imagination and dark cunning of this. With this being Bill Paxton's directorial debut, their was no possible way of knowing how the final product would appear. Luckily, it not only provides a very real and urgent sense of dread and psychological thrills, but it also tak...es a very disturbing and introverted look at the psychopathic mind with exceptional amounts of sympathy and perplexion. To go in with mixed expectations and to come out wholly satisfied is a testament to the script, excellent direction, and fine acting (especially by the insane, yet tragic Bill Paxton). It would be a disservice to ignore this small little bundle of fear and dark satisfaction. Trust me, it is much better than most will give it credit for.
