Falling Skies (TV Series)

I heard about this show I believe at the beginning of last year so there was nothing much about it at all then. I went online today and saw this. There was already a trailer out for it but this one has cast interviews built into the trailer. From executive producer Steven Spielberg (Yeah!), Falling Skies is a TNT series about the aftermath of an alien invasion and the characters we follow trying to survive. It stars Noah Wyle and Moon Bloodgood. In my opinion, Noah Wyle is one of the great, underappreciated actors working today. He was in three TNT films called The Librarian where he is the librarian to all the world's greatest treasures. They were pretty good. He was also in Donnie Darko and of course ER. This show looks like a show I will follow weekly which I only do with a select few shows. But from the trailer, it looks pretty good.

The Hangover: Part 2 (Trailer 2)

The second official trailer for The Hangover: Part 2 is here. A better one actually that shows scenes from the film. And after seeing this trailer, I want to see it even more. Todd Phillips knows how to direct a comedy. I know this is a sequel and it will try to do something different but I hope Todd Phillips does not have a moment where a character points out that the exact same thing happening is like a movie plot. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I do feel bad for Justin Bartha though since he has almost been denied entry to the "Wolfpack." But at least this time around Justin Bartha is safe at home and not majorly sunburned. So, if you get the chance to see this movie when it comes out, I would highly recommend you jump at that chance. It looks just as funny, if not funnier, than the first one.

Captain America: The First Avenger

So the long awaited trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger, the last standalone superhero film by Marvel before the team up in The Avengers, has finally released a full trailer. If you didn't know, Marvel released about three six second clips from the trailer this past week. I don't know much about Captain America myself having never read the comics but this trailer gives me a pretty good idea. Directed by Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III, The Wolfman), Captain America looks like the box office hit of the summer. And from the look of the trailer, it looks like Johnston nailed it. Chris Evans plays his second superhero role of his film career (Human Torch) and looks ready for this role. He goes from scrawny weakling to buff super soldier. Hugo Weaving plays Captain America's nemisis, the Red Skull. So, I am looking forward to this a lot and can't wait for it.

The Hangover: Part II

So, the day has finally come. We finally get to see the first look at The Hangover: Part II. IF you can even call it that. All it is that we see is a trashed "hotel" room, some critics' quotes for the first film, and the gang, sans Doug once again, walking down a street and Zach Galifianakis saying that he is glad they're back. So not much at all. But it's better than nothing. The movie comes out in about three months so you'd think they would have shown us more. Director Todd Phillips might be building the suspense though. I mean, come on, the first film was a huge success. So it might be a few weeks before we see anything else but we do get something. I am looking forward to this movie.

Apollo 18

Apollo 18
The first official trailer for the film and what do I see from it. Not much. What I get for the plot of the film from the trailer is the Apollo 18 mission to the Moon was a government cover-up and has never seen the light of day. Until now. The Apollo 18 mission in the film says it is the reason we have never taken man back to the Moon. Now, we all know that the Apollo 18 mission never happened so I already know this movie is fake. Or is it? Decide for yourself. To me, Apollo 18 is Paranormal Activity in space. With aliens. So I guess I don't know what will happen with this movie but Paranormal Activity was a huge success with a first time director, Oren Peli. So this movie could turn out like that. But it probably won't. It will most likely do well in the box office and it will get some good reviews or it could be the breakout film Paranormal Activity was. We'll wait and see.

X-Men: First Class

X-Men: First Class
I am one of the people who liked these films. I do believe that X-Men was one of the films that brought back superhero films. The second film, X-2, is one of my favorite superhero movies. It's fast, fun, and Bryan Singer knows how to make a pretty good superhero movie. I was not a huge fan of the third film, X-Men: The Last Stand, because I thought it destroyed the atmosphere and excitement that Bryan Singer created with the first two films. Though, it was cool to see Juno walk through walls and not hear her speaking like a hippie. So I'm not sure what to think about this film, especially from this trailer. I like the fact that they are exploring the origins of this group but there are so many mistakes you can make with that. I guess I have to put my confidence in Matthew Vaughn who directed Kick-Ass last year. Although I didn't see it, I have heard it got good reception. And maybe a less-known director will be good for a project like this but you never know.
My Rating: 2-3
