Intense, extravigant, and highly intelligent, 'The Hurt Locker' captivates it's audience and sends them on a fast and terrifying roller coaster ride.
Sergeant J. T. Sanborn (Mackie) and Specialist Owen Eldridge (Geraghty) are members of an active U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit stationed in Bagdad. Having recently lost their third member and original leader Staff Sergeant Matthew Thompson (Pearce) in a mission gone wrong due to the accidental detination of an IED cause by a civilians use of a cell phone, they are striken with grief and need a replacement. Sergeant First Class William James (Renner) enters the scene as a temporary replacement for Sergeant Thompson until the time comes when their team will finish their rotation and be able to return home. Sergent James soon displays his unorthodox and almost psychotic work method whether it be not communicating with the rest of his team, or removing his Advanced Bomb Suitduring his attempts to disarm several IEDs from the back of a vehicle. As the film progresses we witness the various ways that Sanborn and Eldridge deal with Thompson
Bigelow proves with this film exactly what her top game is, and the only thing that can be said is that the bar has been set exceptionally high. She demonstrates that she can make a film that not only is relevent to this day, with the war in Iraq, but that she can also create an emensly intense, edge-of-your-seat, thriller/action movie as well. Mark Boal affirms the fact that he works considerably well with this subject matter, specifically relating to the Iraq war, as demonstrated with the 2007 film 'In the Valley of Elah', and now with this award-winning screenplay. These two are forces that when put together, they leave you feeling as though you have just beared witness to the detonation of a bomb and leave you feeling as though you have been blown away.
Jeremy Renner gives the preformance of a lifetime as the reckless Sergent. He perfectly preforms a role that requires him to be reckless and yet suprisingly cool under pressure during
